The
JCM Consultancy, an independent practice, was set up by Joy Smith in
2000 and offers a comprehensive range of PR and marketing services.
Clients include Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Sandvik, Ollerton Ltd,
various business organisations, and also the Imagineering Foundation
which promotes engineering and manufacturing to young people.
Joy has over 25 years experience in public relations and was
previously a Director of Market Link Public Relations, Birmingham
and Director of GMA Public Relations Ltd (later renamed The Warman
Group). She has also worked with regional, national and
international organisations such as: Calor Gas; MCG Closures;
Sterling Tubes; Holford; Society of British Gas Industries; IMI plc; IMI
Components; Sterling Tubes. She has also worked in a variety of
market sectors including industrial, engineering, manufacturing, the
professions, the property sector and also on a major safety
awareness campaign for UK gas appliance manufacturers.
Joy has been a Member of the Institute of Public Relations since
1987 and so follows the Institute’s select Code of Professional
Conduct.
She is now a Fellow of the Institute and also a member of the IPR's
national Professional Practices Committee. She served on the IPR
Midlands Committee from 1988-2003, as Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer
and in 1994 as Chairman. She served as Chairman, for the second time
in 2000, and was a member of the IPR’s National Council.
Joy is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of
Arts, Manufactures & Commerce.
Joy recently
received a Special Award for Services to the IPR Midlands Group at
the annual IPR PRide Awards 2004/5 in Birmingham.
